Artist Spotlight: Karen Evans
Karen Evans is a young photographer living and working in NYC; her clients include magazines Anthem, Ego Miami, and Bust, as well as advertising work for Sony and Red Bull. Working in New York has helped refine her style and progress it into what it is today. Growing from her days at the Academy of Art in San Francisco where her photographs were more often grainy and dark, today she combines the rawness of her art school youth with a more commercial sensibility, while still retaining her edge. The focus of her work is mostly fashion photography, which she finds an exciting combination of commerce and art. She sees her images as biography and believes there is a message in how we present ourselves, one of the reasons why she enjoys fashion as a medium. Her goal is to travel all over the world shooting fashion, music, and life for editorial, music, and advertising clients, get paid lots of money, and have a damn good time doing it. Check out some of her work here and at her website at http://www.eekphoto.com/.
