ARI - On The Go

Monday, April 24th, 2006

From_toe_whole_1Bananas is all we’ll say about this one. Or maybe we should say Minty Fresh.  Whatever you call it, peep this sneak preview of the new ARI Dunk Low in Newport color way.  Off the hook.  These underground classics are rumored to be produced in a quantity of 255, come in a special cigarette pack shoe box, and will be sold exclusively at ALIFE.  Produced in celebration of the tenth anniversary of On The Go’s cover featuring De La Soul (designed in the same color scheme), the sneaker, according to the inside tag, is dedicated to the "two companies who took the most from our culture, while giving back the least." Oh snap!

J Dilla Remembered

Monday, April 24th, 2006

Donuts_1 Dan Dickson is a Brooklyn-based artist, by way of Atlanta.  He recently submitted this piece of art, inspired by the late great J. Dilla,  that we were feeling and wanted to share with readers. Dickson explains: "I was starting an art series on the people who inspired me, when I heard the news about Dilla, who was one of the people who inspired me most. I felt like I really knew who he was through his music and various collaborations, which is a rarity in music today. I felt compelled to create something that, in a way, gave back to that direct inspiration."  The image is hi-res, and if you save it to your desktop you can use it as wallpaper.

NY Jets

Saturday, April 8th, 2006

As the NFL draft approaches my eyes begin to tear up as if I’m watching Bambi’s mother being killed for the first time.  It may sound as if I’m acting like a bitch with a skinned knee, but there is legitimate concern for the Jets.  Chad Pennington is as good as he would be in a beauty contest, seriously those are some of the biggest ears I’ve ever seen; and with the Jets draft track record, its only getting worse.  The Jets in the past have passed on some of the biggest names in football, Dan Marino and Emmitt Smith being two of them, and have settled with duds.  If you really want to see a sob story than click here to watch the video that tracks all of the Jets draft day blunders.

Deux Process

Friday, April 7th, 2006

Dpscoversm Hailing from Colorado Springs, the Hip Hop trio known as Deux Process comes through with "In Deux Time", an ill debut album on Avatar Records. If you’re looking for gold fronts and rhymes about loot, keep looking. Deux Process keeps it real with tracks about family, love, and even go out on a limb with a political track, something not often seen on a first cut. They’re not afraid to talk about some real issues like drug use and poverty, nor are they shy about including some very personal material. A very well rounded debut album and a breath of fresh air in today’s Hip Hop world. DeuxProcess.com
