Swagger Game

Tuesday, May 30th, 2006

Not even the illest gamers in the game can survive the New York subway system. Swagger has now created a game for all the youth culture heads out there. The graphics are a bit reminiscent of the original mortal combat, with a sort of urban twist to it. Log on and try your luck as you defend yourself against heavily armed hood rats with nothing but a dainty boutique bag to hit with.

Ice_cream_meng_copy

What is cold, tasty, comes in an array of flavors, and FREE?! Well, ice cream apparently. This summer paying for your ice cream is out, and the ice cream man is in. “I want to travel the world and give away FREE Ice Cream. I’m not exactly sure how it’s gonna work but I’ve been pretty lucky, persistent, and successful with all my other adventuresâ€? Straight out the freezer this sweet toothed entrepreneur describes his desire to spread the love of ice cream where ever he can with the help of generous ice cream companies willing to sponsor his cause. The pure versatility of the project up to this point impressive to say the least, as him and his crew continuously hit up every gathering they possibly can, including huge music festivals featuring big names like Kanye West and Damien Marley. Their involvement with artists and photographers have landed them in photo shoots such as American Apparel, and now a front page shoutout from LA alternative. This summer, fun comes frozen, creamy and free. Check the site for updates, photos, and event listings.

Bottles Up

Friday, May 12th, 2006

Hip Hop fans have been begging for someone to put NYC back on the map, but with the oversaturation of the culture, it’s been hard to pinpoint the man for the job. Names such as Papoose, Maino, and of course the Dipset camp have been repping hard trying to stake a claim. However, theres another name to consider, Bronx born MC Mickey Factz aka Jack Danielz. Exposed to the gift of gab at a young age when his dad first taught him how to rap, Mickey has an unique flow and has been steady grinding in New York to make his name heard.  With two mixtapes on the streets right now - Bottles Up & King of the Bronx (with fellow New Yorker J’von Bishop), Mickey Factz lyrical abilities are undeniable.  With a flare for performance that values showmanship and raw skills, instead of the thugged out posturing that has become all to common, Mickey Factz proves that he is a force to be reckoned with on the mic.  We’ve posted three tracks from his mixtape Bottles Up which can be heard on Radio151 (click the link on the homepage), so take a listen for yourself.  You can also peep his MySpace page for more info on the artist - Mickey Factz

For My Sci-Fi Nerds

Sd_onesheet "A Scanner Darkly" is set in suburban Orange County, California in a future where America has lost the war on drugs. When one reluctant undercover cop is ordered to start spying on his friends, he is launched on a paranoid journey into the absurd, where identities and loyalties are impossible to decode. It is a cautionary tale of drug use based on the novel by Philip K. Dick and his own experiences.

Like a graphic novel come to life, "A Scanner Darkly" will use live action photography overlaid with an advanced animation process (interpolated rotoscoping) to create a haunting, highly stylized vision of the future. The technology, first employed in Richard Linklater’s 2001 film "Waking Life," has evolved to produce even more emotional impact and detail. Official Site
