Just Trash?

Monday, July 31st, 2006

Ogp0002stOne man’s trash is another man’s treasure. 26 year old Justin Gignac makes a living by picking up garbage in New York, but he’s not a ‘garbage man.’ He’s an ‘artist.’ Gignac carefully collects New Yorker’s Egg McMuffin wrappers, scratched Lotto tickets as well as anything else that might be found in or around the gutter and packages it in small plexiglass cases. The signed and editioned pieces sell for fifty to one hundred dollars. Dumpster dive further into Gignac’s project here.

OK, ok. Don’t look at us like that. This is definitely not the Babysitter’s Club. Would a sub-par flick cast Vincent D’Onofrio ("the actor’s actor") as the lightning god Thor? Exactly. Plus, it was directed by Chris Columbus. Do yourselves a solid and watch

Finally, a few anti-fascist Disney flicks! Were so glad these banned gems surfaced, because we don’t understand anything unless it’s animated. They’re a little dusty, and a little dated, but they get the point across…

Frank151 Reviews “Fat Bastard” Wine

Monday, July 24th, 2006

Fb1Fat Bastard Wine claims that they named their spirits after, “a British expression describing a particularly rich and full wine.” I still think they’re taking a shot at my beer gut. Lucky for them the wine is good, so they will not be receiving a complaint letter.

Fat Bastard’s vineyards are located in the Languedoc Roussillon region of Southern France. We sampled the Shiraz – a full-bodied red with a hint of berries and spice, and the Chardonnay – a golden white with a vanilla and hazelnut aroma. Not so subtle stab at my weight problem aside, Fat Bastard made for a very enjoyable drink. Both the red and the white went down smoothly and left us wanting more. I shared my bottles with a few friends and asked them what they thought. “A hint of mint,” one proclaimed, thoughtfully. “I detect roses,” said another. I encouraged the aspiring vintners to continue analyzing as I quickly reached for the last of the Shiraz, rubbing my bulging gut.Fb2_1
If you can manage to not take the name “Fat Bastard” personally, Thierry Boudinaud and Guy Anderson do make great wine. If you still feel that the label is referencing your spare tire, address all angry comments to www.fatbastardwine.com.

Guava, Persimmon, Star, Kiwano…

Sfp Om Records cut us a slice from the new Strange Fruit Project album, "The Healing". Allegedly, it’s like aloe for the ears. The podcast sounded oh so sweet and we’ve been told the album will  be just as tasty. With collabos from Erykah Badu, Little Brother and more, we’ll bet our grapes it’s good.  To download the full pocast Click Here

Where_the_buffalo_roamOh give me a home where the buffalo roam and the dear and the antelope play. Where seldom is heard a discouraging word, and this movie is totally dope.
