Frank 151 Reads: Haunted Paradise

“Lost souls, urban blight/ruins, post apocalyptic scenarios, seductive, ungodly and grotesque creatures…but in a happy way!”
We just got a chance to read this little gem from Detroit based Artist Glenn Barr.  His new book is called Haunted Paradise and the content suggests just that.  The book, now in circulation, was meant to coincide with Barr’s most recent exhibition at Billy Shire Fine Arts in Culver City.  However, by itself the book maintains an attractive structure all it’s own.  Barr’s mesmerizing treasury is chalk full of radiant imagery which gives the book an almost mystic flow.  The book is a killer mixture of shapes, faces, sketches, studies, paintings, and photos which all seem to fit together into a huge thematic jigsaw puzzle. Honestly we think it’s just wonderful, however there isn’t much talking to be done about the book, it is more suited for looking at.  And on that note here are some of our favorite pics from the book to get your experiment al art mouth watering.
