Frank151 reviews “42 BELOW” vodka

We got a bottle of 42 Below delivered to the Chop Shop a few weeks ago. 42 Below’s claim is that some of the world’s purest water, right from New Zealand, goes into each bottle of vodka. It was indeed smooth, with minimal kick. They boast a 42% alcohol content to match the location of their distillery, 42 degrees south of the equator in Central Aotearoa, NZ. The vodka gets the Frank seal of approval. That alone should triple sales (maybe). But like most successful products, it’s all about the marketing. 42 Below has worked hard on their image. Some of their print ads include,
“There’s only one thing better than drinking 42 Below by yourself and that’s drinking 42 Below with friends. Nymphomaniac friends.”
“58% alcohol free.”
and
“Purer than the driven snow. Even if you drove it yourself from Colombia.”
42 Below has also unleashed a ferocious string of viral videos over the past few years. Though I hadn’t seen any before I logged onto their site, the videos allegedly caused a little bit of ruckus abroad. Those are available at 42below.com, so we chose instead to post the video from the 2006 Cocktail World Cup. With one semester left of college, I’m scrambling to change my minor to mixology. It looks like fun.
42 Below, started in 2001, was recently acquired by Bacardi for $91 million, cash. That’s a billion and change less than what Bacardi paid for Grey Goose, but I’m sure the good folks at 42 Below didn’t complain much. Afer all, we can’t all be Sidney Franks. The moral of this review? Start brewing your own vodka, be it in a distillery, bathtub, mop sink or toilet. One day Bacardi will pay you millions for it. www.42below.com
