TX cop tells it like it is…for a price
A few weeks ago in Brooklyn, a Frank151 staffer was talking with an ex-cop, formerly decorated by the NYPD, who recently started selling trees. It’s not like he ran out of better options; in fact, he chose to retire from the force early. He tells us he’s just trying to give something back. Fair enough.
He might have a few things in common with Barry Cooper, the former West Texas narcotics officer — with over 800 busts in eight years — who just released a DVD that explains, in DETAIL, how to avoid arrest.
The DVD is called “Never Get Busted Again” and includes extensive sections on search & seizure rights, how to outsmart K-9 units and the best ways to “conceal your stash,” as well as in depth explanation of the profiling techniques Barry and other narcotics officers use: “We would pull over cars that had college bumper stickers, because we knew college kids often partied with marijuana …. We would pull over ‘Vietnam Vet’ plates, because a lot of our vets developed a habit over there…. I feel bad about it. We’d look for blacks. We’d look for Mexicans.”
No shit.
The former narc also dispels some die hard urban myths about smuggling techniques. For example, putting your piff inside a bag of coffee beans won’t actually work, because the dogs can smell right through it. Who knew?
Of course, not everyone’s in favor of full disclosure on this stuff. Barry’s come under heavy fire, both from (surprise) Fox News and from law enforcement officials in Texas (who aren’t too excited about having either their tricks of the trade or their racism get exposed). One narcotics unit commander from Fort Worth told reporters, “I just don’t know how he lives with himself.”
Since Cooper’s selling the no-production-budget DVDs at a whopping $30 a pop, we’ll give you three guesses how he lives with himself. For what it’s worth, we don’t think he’ll ever win back karma for all those weed busts by charging people for this thing, but money can make people feel better about anything….

[…] This is a great example of “know your rights” …. Someone should send Lil’ Wayne a copy of Barry Cooper’s DVD. […]
