E-voting machines “about as secure as Swiss cheese”
Princeton researchers have published what seems like the umpteenth negative report on the Diebold-brand electronic voting machines the US government uses in general elections.
Like other studies before them, the researches found the machines were not secure devices; worse, this time the team managed to crack the Diebold system to change vote tallies in under one minute. They’ve even posted a video of themselves hacking the machine along with their report.
Diebold doesn’t seem too worried — they claim they’ve already made adjustments to fix those problems.
Not very reassuring when you consider that Diebold’s CEO is the guy who told the Bush camp in ‘04 that he “wouldn’t rest” until he could “deliver” Bush the election.
Watch your back in November.
