The Filipino Monkey
Crank Yankers and Jerky Boys wish they could operate on this level – pranks might piss a few people off, but they’ll never come so close to starting World War 3.

Since the 80’s, a group of Iranian pranksters who go by the name “the Filipino Monkey” have been heckling American tankers and Navy ships, taunting and insulting Westerners moving through Middle Eastern waters. But their activity had fallen off … until now.
On January 6, just as Navy patrol boats from Iran sped toward a US warship convoy, a voice (and some well-placed static) came over the airwaves, saying ”I am coming to you. You will explode in [*buzz…hiss…*] minutes.”
The American ships responded by threatening to open fire on the Iranian patrol.
After a brief exchange of fightin’ words, it became clear that neither side was responsible for the broadcast — and suspicion turned to the notorious Monkey.
Moreover, since they broadcast on open frequencies reserved for emergency transmissions, the Filipino Monkey cannot be identified, and so will never be caught. Navy Intelligence believe the original Monkey probably isn’t even around anymore — but he’s clearly got a serious street team.
