Santogold album Out Now
Here at Frank, we’ve been huge fans and friends of Santogold for some time. Finally, the world catches up. Rolling Stone calls her “the future of pop”. We just call her Santi. Formerly of the band Stiffted, she’s now gone solo. Seems like it was the right move, as she’s been courted by Bjork to open her tour, written a song for Lily Allen, and been a featured vocalist on Mark Ronson’s amazing Version album. Her album Santogold, released this week, is a mish-mash of sorts. Her music owes as much to The Pixies, The Talking Heads, ESG and Blondie, as it does to Bad Brains, The Beastie Boys, Bjork and Beck. To call her groundbreaking and in class of her own is easy to do. We’d be hard-pressed to find someone to compare her to. And finally something with this much originality and heart gets the well deserved attention it deserves. Look for big things from Santogold in the very near future. Go out and cop this album at your local retailer (already flying off the shelves at Target), or get it on-line at Turntablelab.
