Novel Is...

This past fall, as most of New York knows, Frank151 teamed up with Afropunk and The Dallas Austin Experience to put on the best CMJ showcase of '08. What most of New York doesn't know though, is that the day before this event Frank151 was privy to a quaint performance at The Alvin Ailey Dance Studio that the Dallas Austin Experience (featuring Big Gipp et al) gave. The opening act for this full-on multimedia performance was a young cat named Novel. We were blown away by his presence and performance, and have been looking for a time to give him shine on these pages since. Now is that time. Once signed to Rawkus Records, currently signed to Rowdy! Working on current album "THE AUDIOBIOGRAPHY..." coming soon. This rapper, singer, songwriter and producer has worked with such acts as India Arie, Alicia Keys, Lauryn Hill, Leona Lewis, Tweet, Kelis, Stacie Orrico, Beyonce, Smokey Robinson, Talib Kweli, Skillz, Monica, JC Chavez, Raphael Saadiq, Rob Thicke, Joss Stone and more. Now he is in ATL polishing his craft with producer Dallas Austin. Stemming from a creatively fertile family tree—grandson to rock and roll Hall of Famer Solomon Burke, son to former Motown Records exec Mickey Stevenson, Novel has blossomed on his own, penning and producing for Alicia Keys, Leona Lewis, and Beyonce, to name a few.
