Rob Swift - "As The Technics Spin"

Rob Swift is known throughout the world for representing progression in the turntable culture. It's widely understood that the first steps made in the evolution of the dj's progression lead to a crop of djs in 1990's that took the whole craft to another level. Rob was at the head of this pack. One of the main reasons Rob stands out has to do with his remarkable ability to produce tracks and create a complete album. This was well exemplified in his solo albums The Ablist and Sound Event, as well as in his contributions to the X-Ecutioners two albums. In addition, he's done composition/performance projects with the likes of Bob James (a spiritual father of the break beat) and others, fusing the turntable as an instrument into more traditional musical elements as if it had been there for years. When cats like Bob James are down to collab with you, you know you're doing something right.
As The Technics Spin is a documentary about Rob and his path to turntable royalty. A big part of this man's success stems from his relationships with people. People like Steve Dee, Dr. Butcher, Large Professor, Roc Raida (of his crew the X-Men/X-Ecutioners), JuJu of the Beatnuts and countless other Hop-Hop notables. These relationships are central to the film, as Rob clearly shows love for the people who have shown it to him. This documentary will take you deeper into one djs world than a documentary has ever done before.
