Kid Cudi - "Man On The Moon"

picture-5

The long awaited Kid Cudi album Man On The Moon was released yesterday. Congratulations to Cudi. He's been having quite a couple of weeks, performing at Jay-Z's concert last week at Madison Square Garden, as well as the VMAs on Sunday. Kid Cudi may be dividing the hip-hop world more than any other artist in recent history. His style of rapping, his style of singing, and his style of dressing have all come into question. Most of the biggest rappers in the game co-sign him (he'll be performing on 10/3 at Governor's Island with 50 Cent), but you have a lot of cats out there that just can't get with him. Pretty reminiscent of his #1 cheerleader Kanye West, no? Having already publicly toyed with the idea of retiring, he's got a lot of the controversial elements that we see in Kanye.

Maybe the most disputed element of Cudi's style would have to be his tight pants. Now, over here at Frank, we could care less, to be honest. However, as the below video displays, cats just can't seem to get over this cat's choice in apparel. Check out Cudi talking with Green Lantern about the skinny jeans haters.

We've been vibing out on the album, and while the only all-out banger we hear on there is Day N Nite, it's got a soulful and mellow quality that had us going back to it. We can't help but wonder why tracks like Super Boo, The Biggest Grinder and Embrace The Martian didn't end up on the album, but we're still bumpin' it'  It's just surprising that as artist with so many ties to the dance/club world wouldn't put two or three club bangers on a first album. That said, we're feelin' Cudi's Stoner Charm. Go get that.
