Rob Murat Has (So) Much To Say
Rob Murat's album So Much To Say was released back in 2008, but recently the above video for the Dilemma Remix 1.0 has been getting burn on BETJ, MTVu, and VH1Soul, which has led to another life for the release. Rob is comes with a a soulful sound, that has a youthful quality that appeals to the younger generation, while giving them a dose of classic flavor. Rob also connects to a younger generation by using social networks like Myspace and Facebook to their full capacity.
We wanted to get a little insight into the how this singer came to create and croon the way he does, so we gave him a little 5 question interview. If you're feelin' the video, check out these tracks by Rob, as well as our short interview after the jump.

Frank151: Where are you from?
Rob Murat: I’m originally from Queens, NY. I spent some of my teen years in the burbs, my college years in Philly, and now I’m stationed in NYC.
F151: What got you started singing?
RM: Feels like I was born plugged in to this music thing. My grandfather was a career composer/musician and, by default, music has always been woven into my life experience. I started playing the piano and trumpet really early in school. I fell in love with creating music and writing songs before I even thought about singing them. And although I always sang in choirs, I didn’t start taking singing seriously until about High School. I’m a performer at heart, and going from writing and creating songs to performing them was a natural progression.
F151: What moment stands out as a pinnacle moment in your career?
RM: The moment I realized the power of myspace two or three years ago was the moment my career changed for the better. I was like: “You mean I have access to the whole world… for FREE… and all I have to do is spend a little bit of time every day building relationships and sharing my music? I’m in!” I found that myspace was a cool place to connect with folks and build a dedicated fan base. My career really started moving at a much faster pace after I joined the site. I am now moving stronger than ever and, aside from building real life buzz outside of “the internets,” that myspace momentum has since spilled over to facebook, twitter, and other social networking sites worldwide.
F151. What new artists do you listen to?
RM: I appreciate a broad range of relatively new and not-so-new acts. Among them are Janelle Monae, Laura Izibor, Mr. Hudson, The Avett Brothers, Wale, and my boy, Blitz the Ambassador.
5. Who are your top 5 singers of all time?
I don’t know if I can narrow down just 5, but (at their prime) you’ve got to include Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Donny Hathaway, Michael Jackson, and Marvin Gaye in the Greatest Singers of All Time Club.
