Chanel Kennebrew: Studio Visit

Chanel Kennebrew is a name you don't want to forget. A thoroughbred of the West Coast, product of a musician father and designer mother, her artistic flare was cultivated at a very young age. With talents in varied facets, Kennebrews enthusiasm for creativity was not to go unnoticed, and so she pursed her passions from California to Denver, and Denver to Toronto, before finally settling in New York.
Fast forward to 2010, and Ms. Kennebrew is challenging the design world with her acclaimed studio, JunkPrints. With a diverse background in photography, illustration and graphic design, one couldn't be more excited to check out Kennebrew's workspace (especially for a design nut such as myself).

More after the break.
A Brooklyn based woman of all trades, Kennebrew mixes her tastes for funky prints, colors and experimentation with the likes of advertising and logotypes to create unique, stand alone work much different than that of her peers. JunkPrints, a graphics clothing line, takes designing a step further by bridging the gap between graphic art, illustration and wearable clothing.
Her designs not only evoke discussion of gender roles and race, but also act as a base to explore the ethics behind creative process. The icing on the cake is that each of her pieces look great! Kennebrew's Truffle Duffle bag (retail $175) in slate lamb skin and accentuated by gray bows screams understated chic. A personal favorite, the Skin and Soul Bag (retail $195) should be a staple in most women's closets. A combination of Kennebrews eye for graphic detail and color, the oversized bag allows the weekend traveler options other than the usual blue and white canvas tote.

Kennebrews workspace spawns passionate energy and controlled chaos to bring about one of a kind clothing and accessories. Mixing it up hints as a theme at her Brooklyn studio, and well appreciated of course. Her online store boasts a variety of hoodeis, skirts, laptop cases and belts for the inner print girl. Ms. Kennebrew will be hitting the road with various events along the east coast, and it would be highly recommended to check out her booth and grab a few things.
