Studio Visit: Stylist Brandy Joy Smith

Ms. Smith in springs minimalist color of choice.
Every man and woman of style needs a person like Brandy Joy Smith in their life. If you're serious about impeccable taste, cutting edge looks and all together presentation, a stylist is essential. A California native with an impressive history in PR and marketing, Brandy Joy Smith has been sharing her talent with the Fashion Industry for a few years now.
Brains and beauty (Smith has a background in modeling), tenacity and hard work, are just some of the traits that the Austin resident brings to each shoot. Currently represented by The Campbell Agency, she has worked with clients such as Hennessy Cognac, San Antonia Magazine, Sony Urban and I Heart Magazine. Having returned from Paris late last year, where she continued to work and explore new ideas; Smith talked with FRANK about her role as a stylist, and shared some fantastic photos of her workspace.

What are a few of the staples your try to keep on hand during a shoot: Double sided stick tape, binder clips, lint roller, and an amazing assistant of mine (Seane Marie).
How do you see your role as a stylist in regard to the publishing industry: As a stylist I have to keep up with current trends and integrate them with my clients' images. In doing this, I'm able to set the tone for editorial fashion, and continue keeping publications interesting. People are generally visually driven and can connect with a striking image; that's what keeps most people flipping through a publication.
Is there a certain criteria you look for when working with new clients: An open-minded attitude, and willingness to collaborate.
What are some of your tips for men and women shopping for spring items: Always remember what looks best on you, then work around the new spring trends. This season keep it simple, minimalism is in.
What's your favorite FRANK Chapter:
My all time favorite is the FRANK and Scion collaboration 151 Pieces, because it took some of Frank151's featured lines and a had a stylist put them together; a stylists dream...hint hint
