Soundset 2011 Recap (Photos)

Every year, Soundset proves to be one of the most exciting music celebrations in the Midwest. People flock from all over the country to see the likes of Atmosphere, Brother Ali and Doomtree, with of course the special out of town guests. With each passing year, the festival becomes stronger, more diverse and extremely popular. This year certainly brought about a group of dynamic artists from Big Boi, to De La Soul, to Curren$y.
The diversity in artist selection was really exciting to see; different styles, different backgrounds---different performances. This was possibly the strongest aspect of Soundset this year. However, it can be noted that a few points may have been lost with the issue of having two or more artists playing at the same time. With both the main stage and the 5th Element stage within walking distance of each other---watching a performance could get a little distracting as echos from the other stage were still heard clearly. Calculating greater space between stages/performance areas might do the festival some good in the coming years.
