John Sarriugarte and Krysten Mate are the creative pair behind the famous Golden Mean Snail car from last year's
Burning Man Festival in California. This year, they're aiming to make two driveable sculptures, in the form of 50-foot serpents. Based on Norse mythology, the dark serpent is called Jormungand. He's "a dark harbinger of doom that Thor fights to save the human race in Nordic myths. His body comprised of blackened steel, he shoots fire from his mouth to prove his dominance over mortals." His sister is called Julunggul, she's shiny in sunlight and covered in thousands of LEDs that make her glow in the night. As far as legend goes, she serves man by "swallowing boys and spitting them out as men."
This project will only become a reality if at least $10,000 is pledged by Wednesday Jul 6, and so far they have reached nearly half that. There are some fantastic rewards for donating, including a Jon Sarriugarte original folding table or a chauffered night in the Snail Car. Pledge and watch a short video about the project
