Those New Cigarette Warning Labels Damage the Purity of My Psyche
Frank reported earlier today news on the graphic images the FDA will be imposing on cigs and I figured I would add my two cents on the subject:
Ignorance is bliss, the FDA knows that. Still, they try to shake the population back into reality by creating graphic warning labels that leave us with all of these internal struggles about right and wrong and the consequences of our actions, or whatever. I mean, wtf. I don't know about the rest of you, but it's a struggle to keep this psyche of mine pure and free from mentally corrupting photos like the one from this ad campaign showing smoke coming from some guy's tracheal tube. Like, I don't even know that guy. The FDA is asking me to be health conscious, but that's what 9th grade health class was for. I passed the tests, can we just call it a day?
Doesn't the mass media desensitive the population enough? The cartoon of the mother basically shotgunning cigarette smoke into her baby's face should paint the picture just fine. I mean, it's kind of like when you're in the doctor's office trying to avert your eyes from the creepy/disgusting posters on the wall describing and showing in detail what an ear infection or STD looks like. Ya just don't wanna see it, but you sure as f*ck know you don't wanna get one.
