Vigilante Vigilante: Buffers vs Street Artists (Video)

With all the hype around street art recently, Art In The Streets, Taki 183's The History of American Graffiti, we figured that the guys on the other side deserve a little attention too: the buffers. Middle-aged white men who cruise the streets of their local communities in 'graffiti lynch mobs' searching for tags and street art to buff out. And how are these men cleansing the streets of graffiti? By splattering, pouring, and covering the tag, throw-up, mural etc with paint. Now, doesn’t that sound like a form of graffiti?

A couple of buddies decided to follow around these self proclaimed street cleaners vigilante style catching them illegally painting other people’s property. Vigilante Vigilante premiers August 12th at the Roxy Theater in San Francisco. Here is the official trailer as well as some bonus footage featuring an interveiw with Shepard Fairey, aka OBEY and the cover artist for Chapter 31: Love Revolution, on graffiti buffers, haters, and vigilantes.
