Johnny Depp Returns For Second Turn As Hunter S. (Video)
One of the highlights of our Cuba chapter was the chance to share rock 'n' roll photographer Michael Halsband's account of accompanying Hunter S Thompson while on a fact-finding mission to Havana ("Gonzo Gone South.") Mr Thompson is of course responsible for the famous "Gonzo journalism" books Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, as well as The Rum Diary, the second to be turned into a film featuring Johnny Depp in one of his most famous roles as the slightly unhinged, hallucinogenics-loving journalist himself. (If you don't remember him ducking imaginary bats in the middle of the Nevada desert in the '90s then you, friend, are sorely missing out). One of our favorite writers, actors and movie characters of all time, this one's sure to get audiences and fans into the theatres, at least in the hope that it'll be as good as Fear and Loathing.
