Frank Discussion: GreatEclectic

Everyone knows this cat because of his visual mash-ups of pop culture, poverty and the many faces of the urban environment. Not to mention his art and culture magazine Art Nouveau. Now Kendrick Daye - or "GREATeclectic" - is giving the people some of his special mash-up ear candy with an upcoming project called Planet of The Ape$.

My name is... Kendrick Daye

And you might know me because... I am GREATeclectic

The best thing about what I do is... having a voice and having an outlet to express myself.

And the worst part is... being my harshest critic.

The most addictive thing in my life right now is... creating. I can’t get enough of it!

More people should know that... I don’t know. With the art and music I do, I feel like people already know a lot.

I always notice when... the similar scenes in every city I’ve been in.

It'll always be in style to... style will always be in style. As long as there is a “sense of fashion” everything could be in style.

But never... nothing. I try to learn something from different trends, especially if it’s popular. Anyone who can truly take something and make it a style, I try to learn from that.

Someone from the past who will never forget me is... anybody who has met me because I am such an oddball!

Something I will never understand is... why everyone is so cut-throat.

The best thing about Atlanta is... on Sundays, hearing the silence in Midtown. It’s such a contrast from every other day, especially Saturday’s haha!

And when you come here, you should check out... 595’s space, Little Azio’s Italian food, Papi’s Cuban food on Ponce and anywhere in Edgewood where there’s graffiti is very inspirational, at least for me.

You haven't lived until... you stopped worrying about what everyone is saying about you.

If... weed were legal... everything would be different.

The best frank advice I ever got was... keep focusing on yourself at the end of the day. What works for others may not work for you.
