Chapter 18: The New South

Frank_18.jpg
Release Date: Fall 2004

Frank151 is no stranger to the South. As a matter of fact, Editor-In-Chief Frank Green founded the Frank Book in Atlanta, GA, before trekking up North to become a true Yankee. So when Frank151 set out to do the Dirty South Chapter, we skipped Disney Land, blew right through the Alamo, and even passed on Mardi Gras, to cover the hotter, sweatier, dirtier South…the New South. And who better to take as an official tour guide than Dirty Doktor Dax and the Dungeon Family? As ATL natives, they were able dig up grime that even we hadn’t seen. The chapter opens with a profile on methamphetamines and never comes down from there—strip clubs, D-boy suits, the Dirty Doktor’s personal collection of shades…even fishing lessons from the Dungeon Family. Frank Book Chapter 18 is the New South, and the New South is the Old South’s nightmare.

Words: Big Rube

When I was a little kid, age five, I started to read comic books. The artwork was incredible and it inspired me to become an artist. Strangely enough, the stories were more inspiring than the physical art. One was forced to really read them and remember the lessons being portrayed within. Comic books had a lot to do with me being able to read on a high school level as early as 3rd or 4th grade. I primarily read Marvel and DC Comics, but was interested in many types of books and graphic novels.
