Excerpt Part One: Introduction to Big Sin.

In the winter of 1990, somewhere in the Upper West Side a rare breed of black mobster named Sin is embarking on a mission from his underboss, Claudio. The details from Claudio were sketchy but the instructions were clear: In order to do a routine pick-up of the “groceries” Sin was told to assist Claudio’s wife, Julia.

Sin’s loyalty to Claudio was above reproach because when he was losing, Claudio was the only one to take him to the ophthalmologist. As it stood right now, Sin was willing to go on a new job with new people based on that trust. In the real-world chemistry of gangsters, there is no more potent formula for trouble.

Sin was sitting on a bar stool serenely composing himself when a tinted limousine pulled up. He pulled his black-billed watchman hat over his stocking cap and walked outside straight to the rear car door that was opening from the inside. The cold and wind chilled his spine when he ducked to enter the dark car, but once inside he immediately felt the heat.

“So, you’re the boxer.” A sweet and forceful voice rang out and Sin leaned over to extend a hand of introduction to a petite woman sitting across from him in a glimmering black dress only half-covered by the fur draped on her shoulders. “I remember seeing you with Claudio.”

“Yeah, Claw and I go back a little.” Julia took his hand and examined it and Sin obliged her by rolling his wrist to show all four folded digits before resting into his seat. “People call me Big Sin.” Sin shifted in his seat to his right to try to gauge his surroundings.

“Yes, I’m sure that’s why ‘Claw’ found you so wonderful.” Julia signaled to the driver and the car pulled off, headed downtown. The interior was plush crushed gray velvet and the driver blind was up. Sin had seen the limo many times but had never actually been inside. “You must tell me all about it sometime. Do you want to do some coke? We may have a long drive ahead of us.”

Sin wasn’t surprised at her offer, but he was irritated by Julia’s cheap trick of validation. “No thanks. I’m good,” he replied. Sin saw the small piles of powder on the passenger-side console and stopped wondering why Julia had on the outfit. Sin unzipped his leather bomber because the heat in the car must have been on full blast from the floor up.

Just then Julia reached over with her right hand in plain sight and felt his chest, presumably for wires, but she lingered instead. “My, aren’t you the healthy one? Are you sure that you won’t try any because it’s probably not the stuff that you’re used to.” Julia kept searching for something under Sin’s clothes centering around his chest and abdomen.

Julia’s plea suddenly didn’t seem so steeped in suspicion so Sin replied, “That stuff makes me way too horny. Help yourself.” Being in such proximity to Julia didn’t seem unusual to Sin and she took a note of it.

Julia pushed off of Sin’s chest to propel herself back into the seat and picked up a straw to her left. “I don’t think that you’ll have to worry about that,” Julia laughed. “It is only the best stuff that I have ever had.”

Sin watched Julia for the first time as he finally became adjusted to the light and knew that Claw had a problem: he was too old for such a hell-raiser, even if it meant perpetual job security. Julia’s bare pale arms reminded Sin of snow and her long black hair only reinforced the point. Her black dress cinched in the middle and Julia’s plunging neckline revealed that she wasn’t wearing a wire. The uncomfortable warmth in the car was in stark contrast to Julia’s visibly hard nipples on B-cup breasts that also told she wasn’t wearing a bra. Her face wasn’t necessarily stunning, but because she had all the trappings of a kept woman and a great body, Julia was used to being the object of men’s desire. She didn’t look a day over 30, but she was probably 45. Julia snorted two huge lines in each of the nostrils of her tiny little nose and slid the tray on the console to Sin, watching intently.

“It’s really not my thing.” Sin didn’t even look in the general direction of the tray but his eyes stayed fixed on Julia’s the whole time. Sin licked his index finger and put it smack dab into one of the piles on the tray and afterward, extending his long arm to show it to her, he put the finger in his mouth and rubbed his gums with it. Sin took off his hat and stocking cap at the same time, in one motion, to reveal a low cut Caesar with a part cut slantways in the middle of his 360-degree waves. “Are we straight?”

“It isn’t exactly that easy,” Julia retorted. “Take off your pants.” She started to speak a little more quickly and the sweetness began to fade away.

Sin looked outside the window to his left to see gray people briskly milling about in the weather. He doubled over forward to untie his Jordan’s in order to comply and two stilettos parted and all he could see was painted toes underneath sheer stockings.  If he only could have seen what he was intended to see in the periphery he would have been that much more unaffected. Sin was stoic.

Without a gasp or the slightest indication of rush he carefully untied, and then took off, each sneaker. When Sin leaned back to unbuckle his jeans he finally saw the prize he already knew that he won between black garter straps and milky thighs. At that point, he could have been thinking of a lot of things but when Sin pulled off his pants his erection said that he wasn’t the least bit concerned about consequences.

Julia sat back in admiration and said, “My, but you are the healthy one.” Her fur was now beside her and she looked on demurely at the same time securing up her raven locks with a sparkling barrette.

Sin grinned. This was the first outward sign of emotion that Sin had expressed all day. He felt Julia’s cold hand on his right thigh before he could see it. Sin was a sucker for the left uppercut. Julia’s reach was in the same general area, only it slowly crept up his leg and stopped at his waist. She followed with both hands and grabbed a hold of him, kneeling in front of him and Sin marveled at her pointy, petite breasts showing under the hanging dress.

The driver moved through traffic easily and there didn’t appear to be any red lights or reservations of any kind for Sin. The thought of sex with another man’s wife would have been dangerous enough without the prospect of mobsters, yet when Julia took Sin into her mouth his mind was totally clear. Julia paused and looked up and smiled at Sin, but his eyes were already closed and his head was back, relaxed. She imagined that he was thinking about a lot of things related to his safety, and wondered why it did not show.  Why were there no questions?

Sin waited for her to resume without ever opening his eyes.
