Luda 4 Obama

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Ludacris recently dropped this Obama endorsement rap. Obama’s campaign didn’t find it so catchy. Obama spokesman Bill Burton released the following statement: “This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear.”

Full lyrics after the jump.

Frank Says Legalize

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Showing that there might just be some hope yet for the U.S government to do something that makes sense, representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts has said “the U.S. should stop arresting responsible marijuana users.”

Frank, along with Texas Republican Ron Paul, has put forth House Resolution 5843, entitled “The Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults Act of 2008″. If HR 5843  passes, the bill will support marijuana smokers possessing up to 100 grams - about 3½ ounces - of cannabis, without being arrested. It would also give its blessing to the “nonprofit transfer” of up to an ounce of marijuana.

The resolution does not address laws forbidding growing, importing, exporting, or selling it for profit. The resolution also does not speak to state laws regarding marijuana use.

Current laws targeting marijuana users place undue burdens on law enforcement resources, punish ill Americans whose doctors have prescribed the substance, and unfairly affect African-Americans, said Frank. He went on to state, “The vast amount of human activity ought to be none of the government’s business. I don’t think it is the government’s business to tell you how to spend your leisure time.”

Leave it up to a guy named Frank to finally bring some common sense to Washington.

Democracy in Danger

Monday, July 28th, 2008

If you thought the 2000 election was crazy, things are shaping up to be even crazier in 2008. While Obama fever is at an all time high, Republican’s have quietly been taking steps to make sure that many potential Obama voters won’t even have the chance to vote by the time they get to the polls. According to investigative Journalist Greg Palast, who has teamed up with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., we are very much in danger of seeing massive voter disenfranchisement when the November elections arrive.

In swing-state Colorado, the Republican Secretary of State conducted the biggest purge of voters in history, dumping a fifth of all registrations. Guess their color.

In swing-state Florida, the state is refusing to accept about 85,000 new registrations from voter drives – overwhelming Black voters.

In swing state New Mexico, HALF of the Democrats of Mora, a dirt poor and overwhelmingly Hispanic county, found their registrations disappeared this year, courtesy of a Republican voting contractor.

In swing states Ohio and Nevada, new federal law is knocking out tens of thousands of voters who lost their homes to foreclosure.

Barack Obama’s Sense Of Humor Walks Into A Bar…

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

In the wake of Monday’s controversy over The New Yorker cover — an unforgettable case of satire gone wrong that Obama’s people called “tasteless and offensive” for depicting him as an Islamic militant in the Oval Office — you gotta ask yourself: what if the Democratic candidate for president wrote jokes about himself? Bankrolled lampooner and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air creator Andy Borowitz is one step ahead of you, reporting on a list of side-splitters pre-approved by Barack’s campaign. They include the following gem.

A Christian, a Jew and Barack Obama are in a rowboat in the middle of the ocean. Barack Obama says, “This joke isn’t going to work because there’s no Muslim in this boat.”

Ah, meta-humor. So rich. If only fake news were as real as it is funny.
