Eight countries, 5,000 eyes, hundreds of paint brushes, thousands of hours of painting, 6,500 glasses of  Sangria and beer, 3,000 tapas and almost 7,000 miles later, the éS Adrian Blanca Traveling Art Exhibition has come to an end. For the last three months, Adrian Blanca has been on a whirlwind art tour to celebrate his collaboration with éS. At each tour stop, spectators were able to watch Adrian create his visual madness live with permanent installations fashioned in all eight locations: One Off in Stockholm, Arrival Departure in Amsterdam, Slam City Skates in London, Street Machine in Paris, Fish and Chips in Antwerp, Doubleight in Munich and the éS showroom in Barcelona.  The tour finally concludes on US soil at the éS Showroom in New York City. The film saw a remarkable advance screening in New York this past spring, which ended with an afterparty (complete with full ramp setup) at the legendary club Tunnel.

Asphalt: the New Snow

freebord.jpg

And we’re not talking your favorite white reggae MC by way of Toronto. The guys at Freebord have boasted for years now that their board lets you bomb any downhill stretch of asphalt as if it were powder. Its patented design subs in outer wheels for a snowboard’s edge and center wheels that pivot for a snowboard’s petex base. Translation? F*ck the slopes and stay in the city next time you wanna carve, slide and drift into switch. Our favorite part is that a prototype for the Freebord was founder Steen Strand’s master thesis at Stanford University — Exhibit X of brainiacs ruling the streets.

Seeing is believing, so peep the videos here at Freebord.com.

Psychedelic Skater

Monday, July 21st, 2008

“Some of you may be wondering what skating has to do with psychedelics, other than the fact that skaters are usually ADHD compulsive danger freaks who like drugs among their many other vices. However, there is one skater who has taken the psychedelic vibe to a whole new level, Richie Jackson from Australia.” (via DoseNation)
