Car Bomb kills Israeli Don

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008
JERUSALEM (CNN) — A car bomb killed one of Israel’s most prominent crime bosses in Tel Aviv Monday, Israeli police sources say.

Police say Yaakov Alperon was killed instantly when an explosive device was apparently detonated by remote control on a busy street in Tel Aviv.

The blast injured two other people, including a 13 year-old boy.

Head of one of Israel’s most notorious crime families, Alperon is the most senior figure to be killed and the latest casualty of ongoing mob wars that have left scores of innocent people dead. In the past these mob-style hits have led to more revenge attacks.

A Time For Mourning Turns to Violence

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

protestor-flame-throws-riot-cops.jpg

In memory of the 1968 Tlatelolco massacre that took place 40 years ago in Mexico City, protesters took to the streets a few weeks ago to mourn and show their respects.  What started as a day to protest and mourning turned to violence when punk kids started attacking riot police and looting the city.  The major newspapers of Mexico were filled with cover stories and pictures of the action that took place.  Though it was documented that the police were very calm and did not use excessive force to control the angry mob; there is rumor that some Mexican police paid looters to run wild through the city during the display of protest.  I can say that out of all of the mayhem, some crazy pictures came out of the event.  For the full photo reel check here.

Documentary Filmmaker, Christian Poveda sheds light on a subject, that is filled with dark circumstances, and is surrounded by violence.  His newest documentary, La Vida Loca, focuses on the daily life in a cell of one of the biggest cliques of M-18 in San Salvador, El Salvador.
20 years after a revolutionary war that devastated the nation, a new civil war has begun. This social unrest could have been contained within the U.S., but in 1996, the Illegal Immigrant Reform and the Immigrant Responsibility Act was put into affect, and it allowed the U.S.A. to deport more than 100,000 gang members, originally detained on U.S. soil, back to where they came from.Take a look at the trailer here.

Last month, The City of Houston proclaimed July 22nd, Trae day.

In honor of his outstanding work within the community, the city of Houston is honoring Trae with his own day, the first time this honor has been extended to a rap artist.

Last night Houston hosted the final night of the Ozone awards at the George R. Brown convention center. Some unexpected beef arose with Trae (Rap-A-Lot) punching Mike Jones, leaving him with a bloody nose. Here is what Trae had to say.
