The Horseshoe Lounge

414 E 20th Ave, Denver

The Horseshoe Lounge doesn't advertise its presence (next to the Dish and across from Benedict Fountain Park, on 20th) with much more than a horseshoe over the front door, but for all that it's easy to miss, you shouldn't. It's a super chill local spot, with cheap drinks and decent late night food. The bricked bar area is narrow but comfortable, with leather-upholstered stools and a bar that appears to be made of all the dice from a ...

The Bank

2239 E Colfax Ave, Denver

It's been a long time since the Capitol Hill State Bank was a functional institution of finance. The torch has been passed on to the owners of Park Tavern, on 11th near Corona. The result: A place that appeals to the neighborhood and is worth making a trek to. The drink prices are a steal, and the food (burgers and bar fare) more than palatable.

Hi Dive

7 S Broadway , Denver

The Hi Dive down on Broadway just past the Mayan on the opposite side of the street. This is a great rocker bar with a regular flow of good bands that come in to play. The place is divided into two areas. The bar area and the stage. The place is small enough that when the band starts playing, that is all you hear no matter where you are. They also have a great kickball team.

The Church

1160 Lincoln St, Denver

Housed (not unexpectedly) in a former church, this nightspot takes adaptive reuse to a new level. People love to dance the night away amid the gorgeous architecture of the striking building. Upbeat music reverberates throughout the large space, and young, single professionals capitalize on its reputation as one of Denver's best singles spots. Given the night, you'll find plenty of locals sipping expensive drinks and dancing to techno, house and ...

Vinyl

1082 Broadway , Denver

Vinyl is something of an urban legend, having survived a major fire and severe blizzard damage in past years and having lived to tell the tale. The diversity of experience the club offers has much to do with its success; the larger dance floor provides a more mainstream event, and downstairs, the basement used to be a hip hop haven and still has good live shows every now and then. The rooftop lounge with the fire pits is money, even on chilly ...

Bar Luxe

231 Milwaukee St, Denver

This well-appointed Cherry Creek martini lounge features velvet club chairs the color of candied apples and curvy, faux-alligator booths the hue of whipped cream. It's upscale but without the usual snobby Cherry Creek crowd. The marble-topped bar has fresh roses bobbing in glass carafes, and sensual lighting makes for a romantic atmosphere. DJs spin decent hip hop, soul, breaks, funk and top 40, and sometimes Denver Diggers' DJ Low Key even pops ...

The Shag Lounge

830 15th St, Denver

The Shag Lounge offers Mod decor (ball chairs, atomic-age finishes and cool lamps) and some of the hottest bartenders in town. There's a video jukebox with a whole lotta music, an open-to-the-street front wall with adjoining patio. Thursday night is Panty Raid (fun skate and snow industry nights with giveaways), Saturdays are So Damn Down with the Denver Diggers' DJ Low Key, and Scumbag Sundays are always packed with $1 PBR, DJ Soup and more.
