Caracas

93 1/2 E 7th St. , New York

Small and seemingly always busy, Caracas Arepa Bar in East Village is "devoted to the pleasures of homemade Venezuelan food." The menu centers around the arepa, which are corn-flour rounds that resemble a tortillam, and can be served stuffed or plain. This is definitely a place worth checking out.

Spina

Yaffa Cafe

97 St. Marks Place, New York

Open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, Yaffa cafe is an East Village staple. The interior is slightly overwhelming: colorful and eclectic, with animal prints thrown into the mix. However, the food is solid. The menu is a variety of traditional american food and is vegetarian and vegan friendly.

Mogador

101 St. Marks Place, New York

Mogador has been in business since 1983, becoming a landmark in the East Village. They have a nice outdoor terrace for spring and summer dinning, and the inside is warm and cozy for winter, made possible by the dimmed lights and candle lit tables. As for the food, they have a wide selection of Mediterranean cuisine. They serve Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch on the weekends, and as far as alcohol goes they have a full bar so don't hesitate ...

Orlin

41 St. Marks Pl, New York

Orlin may not look like a five-star restaurant, but the food is amazing. What really attracts most of Orlin's customers is not the appearance of the place, but the quality of the food and the surprisingly reasonable prices. They have many tasty selections and the service is known to be quite all right. Pictures Via NYmag

La Esquina

106 Kenmare St, New York

The neon sign reads corner, a nod to the deli that preceded it, but that’s just a colorful ruse. If La Esquina is as much stage set as restaurant, that’s because it’s owned by Serge Becker, the designer and nightlife entrepreneur behind such hipster loci as Bowery Bar, MK, and Area. The counter-service taqueria on Kenmare dispenses tacos and tortas (made, unfortunately, on baguettes instead of proper Mexican teleras), and a more extensive ...

Sea

114 N 6th St, Brooklyn

This East Village upstart proved to be so popular, the owners opened a second massive (and massively popular) location in Williamsburg. This original restaurant is miniscule in comparison, but it's designed in the same sleek lounge style. Service is brisk and friendly, and the hip, clubby music is never so loud that you have to shout to be heard. Start with the spicy beef salad or the Tup Tim Fritters, fried chicken and shrimp balls served with ...

Campagnola

1382 1st Avenue (between 73rd St & 74th St) , New York

Definitely the Italian gem of the UES. It's no Rao's, but definitely an amazing traditional, old school Italian joint. The waiters know whats up, huge selection of fresh seafood, great steaks and of course, all of those traditional Italian dishes and antipasto. Definitely a spot thats gonna thin out your pockets, but it's money well spent... if you have it. Mad respect to Campagnola.   Last picture Via Yelp
