England's Hot Chip burst into the hearts of indie electro and synth-pop fans when they came out with their hipster classic Over And Over, which was on their second album, The Warning (2006). The band had been around since 2000 pushing singles, and they used the momentum of that one to propel their DJ Kicks compilation and their next album Made In The Dark. On February 1st, they released their latest album One Night Stand, and today they come with their new video from that album. It's a hilarious foray into the world of a boy band that doesn't exist. It's nice to see some good concepts being pushed forth in a video, and it's done in a completely farcical way that we fully appreciate.

Melo-X is the New York producer, rapper and dj that has been steadily building up his presence and craft throughout the the city for the past number of years. Just this past year, he took himself around the world with his music, getting a positive response from crowds and music industry heavyweights everywhere he went. It's clear from listening to to Melo's music that he's got his ears all over the world, taking in styles from wherever they come from, and using them to create his own sonic formula. This spring/summer will see Melo-X's first official full length release, entitled Sonic Intercourse.

To prepare for the coming album, Melo just dropped a mixtape that serves as a pre-cursor to that album entitled Audio Foreplay. Comprised of mostly instrumental music, the vibe takes the listener through broken beat, house, glitch-esque, instrumental hip-hop, r&b and future-soul vibes, all sewn together nice and neat. Well, it's finally happened: A man named Stephen Alex Vasquez has taken to the editing room to create a documentary about the "Electro Scene", which (by what we can see from the trailer) includes the worlds of "Blog-House" "Electro-Rap" and more. The movie in question is called The Electro Wars, and the title was admittedly snatched from a blog post on Hipster Runoff, and has developed into a full film, that will be screening/launching at this year's Winter Music Conference. A few of the questions that people are bound to ask?:

1. Will this film show us anything we don't know about the "scene"?

2. Will it portray a valid view of the "Electro-World"?

3. Do we care?

4. Will this film just confuse people more than inform them?

5. Will LMFAO be taken seriously?

Big birthday shout out to the one and only Dr. Revolt. He's a New York City staple, and was an innovative member of the group of graf artists that made the moves in early 80's that took graffiti worldwide. Revolt famously created the legendary Wild Style movie poster piece, alongside Sharp and Zephyr, and continues to represent the worldwide graf movement to this day. Up here, we have Balkan Beat Box, the group started by ex Gogol Bordello member Tamir Muskat. Tamir and partner Ori Kaplan are both from Isreal, where another one of our SXSW showcase performers, Terry Poison, is from. Their music is inspired by sounds from all around the world, with obvious "gypsy" themes throughout, and traces of everything from reggae, to hip-hop and rock as well. Louie Vito Lands A Triple-Double! (Video)

Our boy Louie Vito made history at the European X-Games by being the first person to ever open a run with three back to back to back tricks like this. The fact that Vito's score - a 92.33 - didn't beat Crepel's was upsetting. The crowd went wild, but the judges didn't seem to be as impressed and only gave him the bronze. Regardless, big shout out to Louie, and we look forward to seeing him tear up half pipes just as hard next season.

Cocaine Found in Colombia Sculptures Bound for Spain

Police in Colombia say they have found 16kg (35lb) of cocaine inside replicas of three sculptures by artist Fernando Botero being shipped to Spain.

The cocaine had been mixed into the clay of the sculptures as they were being cast, police said. No arrests were made during the operation.

There are two types of people—those that get it and those that will get it eventually. The reason for this is perspective and positioning. It's like this, stand two inches in front of any image or object. The amount of information you have to work with is going to be limited. Nine times out of ten you're going to miss something. Now try taking a few steps back. I guarantee things will begin to look different. Perspective and positioning are key with creativity and concept development.

A few years ago I came across the website for Cleveland, OH-based brand Wrath Arcane. Their product really grabbed my attention. Their cuts have a strong design purpose. Each piece has just the right amount of added detail to really resonate. I was intrigued to find out they were not from one of the bigger markets.

This winter I had a chance to talk with Sean Bilovecky of Wrath Arcane about the brand and the inspiration that thier location has provided for them.

Can you give me a brief history on how Wrath Arcane came about?

WRATH ARCANE started in January of 2006. Brian called me and asked me if I would work on a private label for his store (www.clothingbrigade.com) in Cleveland. From there we just grew from one season, to the next, to where we are now. Cleveland is a perfect example of what can happen to a region when you remove its ability to produce “things.” That’s why it’s really important to us to keep all of the production for the brand in the US. Being from / based here also informs our minimalist approach to designing clothing.

It's a perfect example of why people love these two DJs. They take chances, and they aren't afraid to educate their listeners. With all the fanfare at the Oscars, some of you may have missed the film Logorama win an Oscar for best short animation. This film puts forth an almost nightmarish world full of logos, where just about everything is transformed into a major brand's official stamp. Obviously, the first question you'll ask is: "did these companies pay for and/or give permission for all this placement"? The answer is no, according to an LA Times interview with Ludovic Houplain of Hi 5, the French company responsible for this film. If only this, it's a great review of all the interesting typography/font work that has crosses our psyche every day of our lives. Do we need this much of it, probably not. But then again, this film's only 16 minutes. Also, if we're going to take all this stuff in anyway, it's probably best to get it all at once. Then we can try to ignore it later on.

RIP Corey Haim

'80s babies remember Corey Haim well from his part in the film The Lost Boys, which launched "The Coreys" (Corey Haim and Corey Feldman) into the hearts of millions of teenage girls worldwide. The Two Coreys reality show on A&E was a disturbing look at the former teen stars that was frankly very hard to watch. These two "stars" seem to be a prime example of how the Hollywood lifestyle can chew people up, and spit them out. Haim was pronounced dead at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA last night. The full details are not known to us, but reports state an "accidental overdose". He was 38.

With the success of our FRANKRADIO record label, we now bring you our brand new radio show. The FRANKRADIO Show will bring you music from FRANKRADIO artists, as well as many up-and-comers, and tried and true Frank friends. Jasmine Solano is your host, and will DJ alongside DJs Synapse and Schoolboy. Episode one, features New York's Theophilus London, who hit the music world like a ton of bricks with his "This Charming Mixtape", and is currently working with Mark Ronson and Sam Sparrow on their Chauffeur project. On Smash has released the first episode of Freaknik: The Musical in it's entirety today, something we hipped you to when the trailer came out. As ridiculous as these look, it's hard not to think of how many times they would have come in handy for us. Seems like having a seat attached to your pants might get in the way, but hey, you'd never have to sit on the ground again. Just think about it. Plus, they are said to support up to 1,000 lbs. Really though? We're just curious if they come in boot cut and straight leg as well.
